The Eid al-Adha celebrations kicked off at Msheireb Downtown Doha (MDD) Wednesday, featuring a series of fun-filled activities that created a festive atmosphere for families.
A large number of people thronged The Galleria – a popular indoor space in Doha – and took part in a number of engaging activities, set to run until July 3 from 3pm to 10pm daily.
“The activities captivated us, especially my son, and I am happy to see his face light up with excitement as he plays with other children. It’s an excellent idea to have these kinds of events during this Eid break," said Filipino expatriate Mark J.
He lauded the organisers for transforming The Galleria into an entertainment hub for the week-long celebrations, giving people the chance to enjoy the holidays through “such enriching experiences for all ages”. The Eid trivia quiz allowed participants to test their knowledge and compete for the chance to win giveaways while movie enthusiasts had the opportunity to showcase their cinema expertise in the Novo Cinema trivia quiz.
Adding an element of excitement to the festivities is the magic show, which enthralled the audience and filled the air with wonder and enchantment. The celebration also witnessed children take part in interactive drawing sessions and engaging handcraft activities designed exclusively for them, igniting their imagination and providing a platform for self-expression.
Msheireb also offered residents and visitors a wide range of culinary delights: from hotel restaurants, international restaurants to several other popular cafes and tea houses spread across the bustling district.
“We find the ramen and noodles here (Msheireb) authentic and I love to spend the evening at any of the coffee shops. I would say the experience is really unique even during this time of the year (summer),” said Indian expatriate Sachin, who brought his family to The Galleria.
He said his son Krishna enjoyed playing with the remote-controlled cars at a section of The Galleria along with other young enthusiasts. Another popular activity at Msheireb’s Eid festivity are the e-games, where participants can immerse themselves in the world of virtual excitement in the e-gaming rooms.
