Qatar University (QU)’s College of Engineering celebrated Qatari Engineer’s Day, at an event that coincided with the 40th anniversary of the graduation of the first cohort of engineers from the College of Engineering in 1985-1986. Qatari Engineer’s Day is an initiative recently launched by the Qatar Society of Engineers.The event, attended by distinguished engineers, academics, officials, and students, celebrated the pioneering batch of QU engineers who played a pivotal role in advancing the engineering sector and contributing to the development of Qatar. In his opening speech, College of Engineering dean Dr Khalid Kamal Naji, highlighted the significant contributions of the first graduating class and praised their role in shaping the nation’s infrastructure.Engineer Amna Mohammed al-Naama, chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Society of Engineers, emphasised the importance of the occasion in highlighting the achievements of Qatari engineers and enhancing their role in society.The event also featured a special honouring ceremony for the first graduating class of the College of Engineering, who played a crucial role in laying the foundations of the college and contributed significantly to Qatar’s engineering progress over the past decades. Their professional journey was highlighted, and their achievements were celebrated as a model for future generations.
