The Friends of the Environment Center at the Ministry of Sports and Youth has organised a trip to Ali Al Hinzab protectorate at Al Rayyan Area adopting the topic, 'explore wildlife'.
Several young people and Qatari environment and wildlife fans took part in the field trip as part of the centre's summer programme for July.The trip included a lecture by Dr Mohamed al-Wawi, environment expert at the centre, and a tour of the various parts of the protectorate as the participants were introduced to the various endangered wild plants there and their importance in addition to the ways of benefiting from them whether they were medical or aromatic plants.
Ali al-Hinzab, a pioneer Qatari environmentalist and owner of the protectorate, said that the trip aims at creating a new generation of young people that cares about the local environment and loves to explore the various components of the Qatari wild environment. He said that this would grantee the continuity of new generations that have high level of awareness towards the protection of the animal and plant components of the local environment.
Accordingly, Dr al-Wawi pointed out that the participants planted some new trees during their tour of the place. He said that he briefed the participants on the importance of these plants, their uses and how to take care of them. In addition, he stressed their key role in maintaining environmental equilibrium.
