MoECC, Mitsubishi institute join hands for carbon credits project

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) has signed a joint declaration for an advisory study project on carbon credits plan in Qatar with the Mitsubishi Research Institute.This came on the sidelines of a reception organised by the Japanese embassy in Doha to Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his accompanying delegation.The declaration was signed on behalf of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change by Assistant Undersecretary for Climate Change Affairs Eng Ahmed Mohamed al-Sada, and on behalf of the Mitsubishi Research Institute by the president of the board of directors of the institute, Takashi Morisaki.The project comes in the context of efforts by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change to study possible options, to enhance what was established by the provisions of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, on appropriate systems for the exchange of carbon credits, and to achieve the goals of reducing emissions through international co-operation or relevant approaches.The project for Qatar carbon credits plan contributes to achieving the goals of the National Action Plan for Climate Change and the nationally determined contributions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 25% by 2030, making it one of the most ambitious goals in the region.
