Amulya Guruprasad, a Grade 10 student at Doha Modern Indian School, finished runner-up at the Asian Schools Chess Championship held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan recently. The 15-year-old Qatar resident secured 6.5 points out of 9 rounds in Standard Chess for Under 15 Girls.
She was also conferred with WCM (Woman Candidate Master) title by FIDE, International Chess Federation. This is her first silver medal in International tournaments, after she secured bronze at FIDE World Amateur Women Chess Championship (Under-17) in Malta, Europe last October 2022.
Earlier this year in February, she secured another bronze at National Amateur Chess Tournament (U-17) for Women in Punjab, India. In June, Guruprasad finished fifth in Batumi, Georgia at the FIDE World Cadets & Youth Blitz tournament. She also taken part in various tournaments in Thailand, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan this year.
Guruprasad is a Qatar resident but has been representing India in multiple international tournaments since July 2022.
