The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Mosques Department, has opened the Ali bin Abdul Latif Al-Misnad Mosque at Al Egda.
According to an official Awqaf statement, the new mosque is built on a total area of 2,510sq m and can accommodate 378 worshippers. The imam's house is attached to the mosque.
The opening of the new mosque, which was endowed by Ali bin Abdul Latif Mohamed al-Misnad al-Mohannadi, comes within the framework of the ministry’s plan to expand the number of mosques and develop them in all regions of the country. This is while keeping pace with urban growth and population increase in line with the country’s National Vision 2030.
The new mosque's (No 322) main prayer hall can accommodate 312 worshippers. This is in addition to a women’s hall that can accommodate 66 worshippers with special needs. There are entrances and exits that are specially-abled friendly.
The Mosques Department supervises the preparation and implementation of construction, maintenance works for mosques while monitoring the construction projects of mosques and imams’ residences owned by the endowment in terms of designs, technical specifications, engineering and implementation and preparing a database on mosques, prayer grounds and their workers.
In mosque designs, the department takes into account the different areas of lands on which mosques will be built along with the requirements for green buildings and sustainable buildings.
Also, the department focuses on the conditions for sustainability in the use of electricity and water, and preserving the aesthetics of heritage in designs that reflect the authenticity of Qatari and Islamic heritage in accordance with the highest standards.
The ministry's plans to build mosques also take into account the population density map along with engineering, architectural specifications and the heritage aspect within the framework of caring for the houses of God, to perform worship and to serve the worshippers.
Awqaf’s website provides the facility to search for mosque locations geographically according to the global navigation system through accurate and specific maps that facilitate access to mosque locations in all cities across the country.
