HE the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Ahmed bin Hassan al-Hammadi received a phone call Monday from Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billstrom.
During the phone call, HE al-Hammadi reiterated Qatar's stance and its condemnation of the repeated permission to attack the Holy Qur'an in Sweden, pointing out that allowing repeated attacks on the Qur'an under the pretext of freedom of expression fuels hatred and violence, threatens the values of peaceful coexistence, and reveals distasteful double standards.
He also reiterated Qatar's full support for the values of tolerance and coexistence, its keenness to establish the principles of international peace and security through dialogue and understanding, and its belief in freedom of expression, but at the same time, he stressed the need to respect religious beliefs and promote tolerance and understanding between different cultures and peoples.
