Qatar witnessed a total of 619 traffic accidents in June 2023, which however was down 17% and 12.1% year-on-year and month-on-month respectively, according to the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA).
Light injuries accounted for most traffic accident cases during the period, accounting for 94% of the total, followed by severe injuries at 4%. However, 14 deaths were recorded, equivalent to 2% of total traffic accidents cases, the PSA said in its 114th issue of Qatar Monthly Statistics bulletin.
The total number of registered new vehicles in June 2023 reached 6,593; showing a 17.7% and 19% decline on yearly and monthly basis, respectively.
One of the most prominent changes in this issue was the drop in the total numbers and values of properties sold. The number of properties sold and their value had seen a monthly decline of 10.7% and 15% respectively. On an annualised basis, it had registered 41.8% and 44.5% contraction respectively in the review period.
The demographic statistics revealed that the total population of Qatar was rather flat at 2.66mn on an annualised basis but declined 11.5% month-on-month in the review period.
As many as 2,216 live births have been registered in June 2023. There has been a 3.8% fall in the total Qatari live births comparing to last month. On the other hand, 186 deaths were registered in the same period, a decrease of 11.8% compared to May 2023.
The review period witnessed a monthly increase of 19.8% in total marriage contracts and a monthly decrease of 17% in total divorces. The total number of marriage contracts reached 394, while the total number of divorces reached 132 cases.
Social security amounting to QR79mn was extended to 14,421 beneficiaries in June 2023, which showed a 0.1% and 0.8% decline in beneficiaries and the value respectively.
Regarding the data of buildings permits issued, it reached 641 in June 2023, recording a monthly decrease of 15.4% and an annual decrease of 15.1%.
