Al Wakra Municipality has concluded its summer activities and programmes, organized in collaboration with Al Wakra Sports Club. The programme concluded with a workshop on "Examining vegetables and fruits and proper storage methods" as part of a series of awareness workshops and field visits aimed at enhancing community partnerships in this regard.The workshop, presented by Engr Muath al-Ali from Al Meera Hypermarket (Al Wakra branch), aimed to equip the trainees with the ability to identify fresh and healthy vegetables and fruits, and to teach them proper preservation and storage methods. The workshop also addressed the damages caused by improper storage, along with educating the trainees on the diseases that infect vegetables and fruits, highlighting the importance of these food items in daily lives.The workshop covered several other key topics, such as a theoretical explanation of the importance of vegetables and fruits and the proper handling from the time of receiving them until displayed to consumers. The trainees were introduced to the inspection and examination process of vegetables and fruits to ensure their safety, as well as training them to distinguish between fresh and unfit produce.The summer events programme further included the first workshop held on July 25, titled 'Basics of Engineering Drawing', presented by Eng Sara Ahmed and Alaa Azhari at Al Wakra Sports Club. The workshop focused on introducing the basic concepts of engineering drawing, simplifying the reading of architectural maps, and involving the trainees in drawing 3D models and building them as a team.The second workshop on the 'Basics of Food Preservation and Storage', was presented by Eng Ahmed Nour El-Din and included two field visits to food establishments. The aim was to equip the trainees with the necessary requirements for food preservation and storage, considering the specific conditions based on the type of food and other factors.Such interactive programmes aimed to make use of the leisure time of the young people and develop their capabilities, improve their skills, and enhance their knowledge and practical experiences through adopting positive healthy practices.
