All officials from the teaching staff, educational institutions, students, and parents are anticipating the start of the new academic year 2023-2024, after a long summer vacation.
They are confidently and optimistically upbeat to have a year that abounds with academic achievements and perseverance similar the previous one to ultimately accomplish high-quality educational outcomes for students to be either capable of proceeding with their college studies, competing or engaging in labour market.
According to the annual calendar of schools for the academic year 2023-2024, it is anticipated that nearly 132,000 male and female students in 279 schools and public kindergartens will go back to school on Aug 27 with the number reaching 214 schools accommodating 124,189 male and female students, while there are 65 kindergartens with 7,936 male and female students.
Administrative and teaching staff, along with schools' employees will embark on their work starting from Aug 20 who will primarily precede the students' return to schools in order for the pedagogical staff to embark on carrying out essential preparations, including receiving students and distributing class schedules whose publication has been completed from the first academic class.
In addition, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) will hold the annual educational meeting for the academic year 2023-2024 at Qatar National Convention Centre where HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Buthaina bint Ali al-Jabr al-Nuaimi will meet with all affiliates of the educational system, including MoEHE's officials, leaders of public and private schools and their academic and administrative staff in an extended meeting that will discuss highlights of the new academic year and MoEHE's strategic orientations.
The meeting will be followed by a wide range of training workshops for three days that target the pedagogical leadership, alongside academic and administrative staff in schools, where the design of these workshops has primarily been considered to keep up with the best practices and global trends in education.
The preparations and arrangements made by MoEHE to start the new academic year included provision of a conducive educational environment, ensure readiness of school furniture, class storage capacity, availability of school buses, transportation, as well as school meal services tenders and canteens where 16 qualified food companies have been hired to provide school canteens with food supplies in all public schools in accordance with the accredited health and food requirements.
The arrangements also included bridging the gaps through hiring and recruiting many teachers based on high standards, in terms of scientific qualifications and practical expertise. Within MoEHE's preparations to receive the new academic year, the ministry will organize the back-to-school campaign under the slogan: "My school is my second home" in collaboration with Mowasalat (Karwa) at Qatar Mall during the period Aug 24-29 where the campaign is expected to attract students and their parents with the objective of taking advantage of its beneficial episodes and programs, along with the miscellaneous recreational activities to prepare students morally and mentally in their adaptation to learning atmospheres in schools.
The preparations are afoot in the run-up to the new academic year in full collaboration and co-ordination between MoEHE and Ministry of Interior to ensure safety and security for students at the perimeter of schools and kindergartens. In the context of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education's preparations for the start of the new academic year, the ministry announced Tuesday the start of electronic registration and transfer of students for the academic year 2023-2024 of all nationalities who meet the categories of admission to government schools.
As the teaching and administrative staff beginning their work on August 20, schools are ready to distribute books, study supplies, and the student lists to classes, as well as applying school systems, policies and regulations from the first day of school, with a serious commitment to improving students academic achievement as a strategic goal of the ministry. Preparations for the start of the new school year extended to include libraries, which provided various types of stationery, bags, and school supplies of various types and brands, while the parents started to prepare the school uniform and buy the needs of their children.
In this regard, the ministry urges parents to prepare their children to adhere to the policy of attendance, absence, and attendance at school from the first day to prepare students for a high-quality educational atmosphere that is in line with the study plans designed to ensure that all students acquire the knowledge and skills contribute to their achievement of success and the achievements they aspire to.
Undoubtedly, these distinguished and early preparations confirm that education will remain the first investment for the State of Qatar, as it is an investment in people that will benefit the country in all fields. It also confirms the great attention that the state attaches to its educational system, which has made remarkable achievements and received wide acclaim on the local and international levels, in addition to the efforts of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to ensure the provision of education for all with the highest quality standards, where the State of Qatar has developed ambitious plans and strategies in this field, and has made significant achievements.
During the new academic year, the ministry seeks to continue performing the State of Qatar Vision 2030 goals, as education and human development are the most prominent pillars, which in turn confirms that all policies related to education, schools and curricula are aimed primarily at the interest of the student, the matter that requires co-operation between all parties to the educational process in order to provide all means for students to succeed and excel.
