The Qatar Diabetes Association (QDA) has launched a free electronic diabetes management application for smartphones, on the iOS and Android platforms.
The app provides the opportunity to know everything related to diabetes and how to control and live a healthy life in the best and easiest way.
Dr Amel Adam, head of healthcare at QDA, said: "The aim of the application is to improve the continuity of care to people with diabetes. Unlike other chronic diseases, diabetes imposes on the person living with it, a great amount of decision-making and problem-solving. The app aims to provide this support and maintain continuous follow-up with our patients. In addition to the usual means of communication, QDA app will allow closer monitoring and support to our patients.”
Dr Abdulla al-Hamaq, executive director, QDA explained: "The launch of this application, designed in an innovative way taking into account quality standards that serve the patients and the community, comes within the framework of our keenness to care for people living with diabetes and raise the quality of their lives, and also those at risk of developing diabetes, can communicate to develop a nutritional plan for weight control and discuss ways to reduce risk factors and prevent diabetes. Of course, the app allows them to benefit from it and communicate with our medical team even if they are abroad.”
"Through this application, it is easy to communicate with the specialist, the medical team, with the nutritionist, as well as how to benefit from the association's fitness halls and also provides the opportunity to apply for volunteering for those interested. As an addition to our diabetes clinics, which receive patients daily in the association, this new application promotes a culture of well-being.” he added.
