The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has won two awards from the US International Communitas Organisation, which recognises exceptional initiatives and responsible institutions that adapt their practices to the benefit of society.
The awards, according to a statement by Ashghal on its official X account, have come in recognition of the Local Areas Infrastructure Programme by Ashghal’s Road Projects Department.
Ashghal received the “Excellence in Community Service” Award for submission titled “Enhanced Contracts Transformative Influence”, for the achievements realised by the contracts’ enhancements in the field of Lean Construction and driving consultants and contractors to advance knowledge, human capabilities and operations.
Ashghal also received the Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility Award for the submission titled “Leading Sustainable Best Practices in Qatar” while recognising its efforts in applying sustainability principles and supporting the adoption of green initiatives across its projects.
Local Areas Infrastructure Programme aims to develop the roads, drainage networks and overall infrastructure in all areas of Qatar to raise the standard of living for all citizens and residents.
The programme provides a comprehensive infrastructure for new areas that lack infrastructure facilities, in addition to developing and enhancing the existing infrastructure in central and suburban areas. It also aims to increase the capacity of roads and utility services to meet the requirements of continuous urban development. This is in addition to the construction of link roads that connect villages and towns across the country.
