The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) called on students to enjoy their educational journey and seize all available opportunities to fulfill their dreams, on the occasion of the new academic year 2023/2024.
The Ministry congratulated students and parents on the start of the new academic year, wishing them a year full of achievements, while stressing its full readiness to support them.
On this occasion, Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs Maha Zayed al-Ruwaili emphasised the primary role of school leaders in guiding and inspiring students and teachers, and expressed confidence in their abilities to address challenges.
Al-Ruwaili appreciated the achievements made in the past academic year, hoping that this year will be distinguished by all standards.
About 132,000 male and female students in 279 public schools and kindergartens went to school Sunday in addition to other students in private schools and kindergartens, which have completed all preparations to receive them.
Altogether, around 350,000 students returned to their schools and other higher education institutes for the new academic year 2023-24.
The General Directorate of Traffic in coordination with the authorities concerned deployed patrolling to ensure traffic flow on roads especially those leading to schools.
Around 550 government and private schools and 34 higher education institutes are operating in Qatar. Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Buthaina bint Ali al- Jabr al-Nuaimi said the new academic year 2023-2024 would witness improvement in school supervision and support policies and mechanisms.
Last Sunday, administrative cadres and teaching staff at schools started work in order to make the necessary preparations to receive students and distribute class schedules and textbooks that have already been printed.
The MoEHE is organising the Back-to-School campaign under the slogan "My School is My Second Home." The campaign will continue until August 29. It was preceded by the three-day 2023/2024 annual educational meeting.
Preparations for the new academic year took place with full cooperation and coordination between the MoEHE and the Ministry of Interior to ensure the safety and security of students in the vicinity of schools and kindergartens.
Qatar University (QU) welcomed its students for the first day of the fall 2023 semester and a new batch of students in various colleges, wishing them a distinguished and motivating university life ahead to accomplish achievements and successes.
This year, QU received about 30,000 students, including more than 6,000 new students at various levels, faculties, and academic disciplines. During the past two weeks, they completed online orientation, which included a comprehensive presentation of the various university procedures and services.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on this occasion, the Director of QU's Student Activities Department Abdullah Hamed al-Mulla congratulated all students on the start of the new academic year and wished everyone success in achieving their goals, visions, and aspirations in teaching and learning.
