The violations of Law no 15 of 2010 on the Prohibition of Workers Camps within Family Residential Areas at Al Khor and Al Thakhira Municipality have dropped by almost 85% compared to the previous years.
Abdulaziz al-Sayyid, director of Municipal Control Department at Al Khor and Al Thakhira Municipality, told local Arabic daily Arrayah, that such violations receded due to extensive efforts over the past few years and providing adequate alternative accommodations for workers at Al Khor Industrial Area, in addition to Barwa Housing complex, which provides workers with the essential services and entertainment facilities.
He said that only 36 violations reports have been registered at the 96 inspection tours carried out in this regard since the start of this year. Besides, the number of complaints from such violations has dropped considerably. Some old houses were evacuated during this period, including 32 voluntary evacuations by their owners and nine evacuated by the municipality.
He pointed out that the municipality carried out 142 inspection tours throughout this year to spot any violations on encroachment on state property, which resulted in issuing 25 related violation reports. This type of violations has also dropped this year compared to the previous years.
Further, the General Cleanliness Section at the municipality has carried out 450 inspection tours during this year, which resulted in issuing 123 violation reports, in addition to 18 violations regarding the advertisement violations. Also, the Health Control Section carried out 6,232 inspection tours from the start of this year until August 10, which resulted in issuing 69 violation reports against various food outlets and establishments and 18 food outlets were shut down for various periods ranging from one day to 60 days according to the nature of violation.
