The Ministry of Culture's Center for Theater Affairs participated in the 10th session of the Lebanon International Theater Festival, which kicked off in Tripoli Tuesday evening under the slogan 'Tripoli, The Capital Of Arab Culture.'Qatar participated in this festival with the theatrical performance of the play 'The Sultan' written and directed by Salem Al Mansouri, and a group of actors, including Muhammad Al Mohammadi, Sameh Al Hajari, Ali Al Sharshani, Siham Al Araj, and Khaled Al Tamimi and with scenography of Abdullah Al Bakri.Such participations reflect the extent of the Qatari presence in Arab events and festivals, and the confidence it enjoys in these circles. The play 'The Sultan' reflects the prevailing Arab culture's view of power and politics, as it reinforces the message that people's satisfaction is an unattainable goal. The play is the story of the sailor Khamis, who refuses to run for the presidency of the island, because of the lack of an heir, and through events in a dream, it increased his insistence on moving away from the world of power and politics due to the great responsibility tied to it.The play was shown in many Arab and international festivals. Salem Al Mansouri has previously won many awards and received several honors at the local, Gulf, and Arab levels due to his long theatrical career and contributions to the Qatari theater scene. The Lebanon International Theater Festival is an Arab and international forum that reflects the cultural and artistic importance of theatrical expression in the Lebanese arena.
