MIE-SPPU Institute of Higher Education, the Qatar branch of Savitribai Phule Pune University in India, has launched its first-ever postgraduate offering: the Executive MBA. This programme is delivered in collaboration with the esteemed PUMBA school in Pune, which enjoys a global reputation for its academic excellence, a statement said on Thursday.
The event, conducted under the banner of ElevateQatar, aimed to emphasise the significance of managerial expertise in advancing Qatar's entrepreneurial capabilities to new heights.
The speakers were MIE-SPPU chairman Ali bin Abdullatif al-Mesnad and Ooredoo Group chief human resources officer Fatima Sultan al-Kuwari. On the occasion, Ali al-Mesnad spoke on the importance of wise leadership in business which includes assessing market situations, making quick market moves, and listening to the customer.
Fatima al-Kuwari spoke about how the women in leadership in Qatar have broken the myth that business leadership is a single-gender territory and have shown sustained achievements in business growth in Qatar. Her personal example of building the Ooredoo brand and making several crucial decisions to keep Ooredoo’s position as the leading telecom provider in Qatar was inspirational for the audience.
The business leaders interacted with the media and the prospective students who were the invited guests, and all expressed their interest to join the university’s Executive MBA programme in its launch year of 2023.
The MBA programme has six specialisations: Marketing Management, Financial Management, Operations Management, HR Management, Systems Management, and International Business Management. Students will have flexible timings after working hours, the statement added.
