Registration for the upcoming Haj season starts on Wednesday, the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs announced on Sunday.
Speaking at a press conference, Director of the Department of Haj and Umrah Ali bin Sultan al-Misifri said that Qataris and residents can apply on Haj.gov.qa website from 8am on Wednesday, Sept 20 until Oct 20, 2023.
The early registration allows Qatari Haj tour operators to round off their contracts with corresponding Saudi agencies and better services for pilgrims, al-Misifri said.
He added that the Saudi authorities have allocated Qatar a Haj quota of 4,400 pilgrims.
Qatari applicants must be at least 16 years old, with the possibility of adding five companions. GCC nationals must be at least 18 years old and have the option to add only one companion. For residents, they must be at least 40 years old and completed a 10-year residency in the country. They are allowed to add only one companion. (QNA)
