Qatar National Library (QNL), in partnership with the British Council Qatar, recently hosted an adult literacy programme aimed at enhancing the English literacy skills of talabat riders.
Led by a seasoned trainer from the British Council Qatar, a group of 25 talabat riders underwent a specialised literacy programme yesterday at QNL. By the end of the session, participants received membership cards and learned how to continue their learning journey beyond the literacy programme.
In a press statement, Abeer al-Kuwari, director of Research and Learning at QNL, said: “We believe that knowledge should be within everyone's reach. Every partnership we undertake and every programme we launch aims to inspire and support our community. As we look to the future, the Library stands not just as a repository of books, but as a beacon for lifelong learners in Qatar.”
Dr Waseem Kotoub, country director of the British Council in Qatar, said: "This collaboration with Qatar National Library underscores our collective commitment to empowering individuals with the essential skills they need for personal and professional growth.
Francisco Miguel Condeco Caetano De Sousa, managing director of talabat, said: “We are grateful to our partners from the British Council and Qatar National Library for working with us to provide adult literacy sessions which will undoubtedly foster progress in riders’ personal and professional growth.”
Lynne M Fraser, senior english writing specialist at QNL, said: “By contributing to the growth and success of talabat riders, we hope to widely demonstrate the tremendous value that lifelong learning can offer and the role of the library in making such opportunities accessible to the wider community.”
talabat rider Kasagga Frank said: “The workshop has helped me greatly in understanding the best ways to communicate with customers. It has been very helpful."
An additional group of 25 talabat riders will be hosted at QNL tomorrow for a similar experience.
