The Social & Sport Contribution Fund (DAAM) has announced its support for the 2023-2024 camel racing season, a statement said on Wednesday.
The new season commenced at Al Sheehaniya racetrack on September 2, and will run until April 1, 2024.
It features eight local races and three festivals, including the Sheikh Jassem bin Mohammed bin Thani Festival for Purebred Arabian Camels, which will take place from November 25 to December 6, 2023, the Purebred Arabian Camel Festival for the sword of His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani from January 13 to 19, 2024, and the Purebred Arabian Camel Festival for the sword of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, from February 24 to March 7, 2024.
The close collaboration between DAAM and the organising committee of camel racing over the past years has been a key factor in the annual season's success. This partnership has witnessed significant growth in the sport, unprecedented local and regional participation, making it one of the most attractive events for enthusiasts of the sport.
Since its establishment in 2010, DAAM has laid the foundation for numerous vital projects and initiatives in the social, sports, and cultural realms.
The contributions from the companies listed on the Qatar Stock Exchange, serve as key financial resources for the fund, making them integral partners in achieving sustainable community development in alignment with Qatar's National Vision 2030, the statement added.
