Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology (Govt. Engineering College, Kottayam) Alumni Association Qatar (Ritaaq) members and their families celebrated the Onam festival at an event titled 'Aarattu 2023: A Day of Unity and Tradition.'
The day began with members showcasing their artistic flair in crafting intricate 'Pookalam' (floral carpet) designs. Chairman Sheffin Shahab welcomed the gathering followed by a brief introduction about the purpose and importance of the event by general secretary Mohamed Hashir and a vote of thanks by treasurer Rishad Payyapatha.
The cultural performances featured Kerala's traditional dances and a fashion show depicting the beauty of traditional attire. The highlight of the day was the sumptuous Onam Sadhya, a grand feast prepared and served by the members themselves.
A touch of nostalgia was added with the inclusion of the traditional game of Vadam Vali (tug of war).
