Meta has announced its next-generation VR headset called the Meta Quest 3. The device is in fact, a mixed reality and virtual reality headset that is set to launch on 10 October. The unit will retail from USD 499 for the 128GB and USD 649 for the 512GB model.
Meta says the Meta Quest 3 will come with a free copy of the action RPG sequel Asgard's Wrath 2 when the game launches in October. If you pick up a unit before 27 January 2024, you'll also get the game, the company says. The more expensive 512GB model also comes with a six-month Meta Quest+ trial. The service gives owners two VR titles on the first day of each month.
Meta boasted some high-end specs for the new Meta Quest 3. It features a 40 percent slimmer optical profile than the Quest 2 and a redesigned Touch Plus controller design. Internally, the unit packs a next-gen Snapdragon chipset developed specifically in collaboration between Meta and Qualcomm. It delivers over twice the graphical performance as the GPU in Quest 2.
The unit also supports hand tracking out of the box. This means you can use the device without the controllers. This is thanks to a new Direct Touch that lets you use your fingers to interact with virtual objects. (QNA)
