The Doha-based Arab Educational Training Centre for the Gulf States celebrated Monday its international CPD accreditation from the Professional Development Organisation in London. The celebration was attended by HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Buthaina bint Ali al-Jabr al-Nuaimi, Saudi ambassador to Qatar Prince Mansour bin Khalid bin Abdullah bin Farhan al-Saud and Unesco Director of Doha Office for Gulf States Region and Yemen Salah al-Din Zaki Khalid.
In a speech on the occasion, the Director of the Arab Centre for Educational Training for the Gulf States, Dr Fatima Ghanem al-Maadeed, said that this is one of the best international accreditations for training activities in the world, because it provides a framework for continuous learning and development, enhancing ethical behaviour in the training field, and contributing to comprehensive quality and credibility for the training profession.
Dr al-Maadeed noted that this major achievement reflects the efforts made and the great interest in developing education and training in the countries of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS), and confirms the position of the centre as a pioneering institution in education and training, and its continuous endeavour to advance education and develop teachers and trainers of the ABEGS member states.
It also represents a clear message that the centre strives to provide an advanced and sophisticated educational environment that meets the needs of society and ensures the qualification of educational staff with the best methods and practices, she added.
This accreditation means that teachers and trainers in the ABEGS member states would benefit from high-quality training programmes that guarantee the continuous improvement of their skills and prepare them to face future challenges, Dr al-Maadeed added.
She highlighted plans for further new activities and events including the launch of the training capitals — a series of monthly seminars that will be presented from the capitals of ABEGS member states on topics related to training and education and the launch of a new Arab Educational Training Centredigital platform.
For his part, the director general of the Riyadh-based ABEGS, Dr Abdulrahman Mohamed Alasmi, extended his sincere thanks to the GCC leaders, for the interest and constant care the education sector is receiving from them, which have largely contributed to the progress and development of joint educational work in the GCC states.
He extended his thanks to Qatar for encouraging and caring for the higher education sector, along with its enduring support for ABEGS and affiliated offices, in addition to harnessing all essential potential for the office to discharge its functions and carry out its projects and programmes based on its strategic plans.
