Lusail University (LU) and Education Above All foundation (EAA) signed an agreement to make young residents who lived most of their lives in Qatar eligible for the Qatar scholarship programme, offered by EAA, in partnership with the General Directorate of Endowments of the Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs.
The agreement was signed by Vice-President for Student Affairs at Lusail University Fatma al-Mesleh and Director of EAA's Al Fakhoora Programme Talal al-Hothal.
The agreement stipulates that both parties would co-operate to provide scholarships for students at Lusail University and to enhance opportunities for co-ordination and partnership in the fields. The agreement manifests the goals of both EAA and LU, whereby EAA aims to change the world by providing children and the youth access to education, which is the best tool to alleviate poverty and bring about justice and peace, unleashing children and the youth's full potential.
As for LU, it aims to graduate a qualified workforce that is characterised by quality, integrity, transparency, leadership, innovation, respect, cultural diversity, continuous learning, and community participation to meet labor market needs.
In this context, al-Mesleh said that stemming from LU's convention in education for all, the University strongly invested in the interests of students, sparing no effort to support them in completing their university studies, including through contacting third-party entities to offer eligible students scholarships.
For his part, al-Hothal said that EAA sees education as a bridge towards achieving sustainable development and establishing more just and prosperous societies. He expressed hope that this partnership would yield positive and sustainable returns for students and the country's development.
Qatar scholarship programme offers people between the ages of 17 and 25, who spent most of their lives in Qatar, the chance to complete their higher education in Doha-based universities. The programme is implemented by EAA, with the support of the Waqf Bank for Scientific and Cultural Development.
