Qatar University (QU), represented by the College of Business and Economics, launched the Mena Business Schools Alliance for Sustainability (MEBAS) during the second day of the 6th International Conference ‘Entrepreneurship for Sustainability and Impact’.
The alliance is dedicated to mitigating the impact of climate change, promoting environmental conservation, and achieving Sustainable Development Goals by the United Nations.
The launch of MEBAS marks an effort to connect business schools in the Mena region, noting the importance of the alliance and its impact on the future of business in the region. Through collaborative initiatives, the alliance will facilitate the exchange of best practices, innovative ideas, and cutting-edge research, to ensure that member schools remain at the forefront of sustainability education.
The alliance will seek to create a strong research alliance that brings together researchers, experts, scientists and decision-makers from the Mena region to facilitate collaboration on various aspects of climate change and environmental research.
Dean of the College of Business and Economics, Prof Rana Sobh said: “This endeavour represents an unprecedented opportunity to galvanise our region's academic, corporate, and governmental sectors to address the urgent and global challenge of sustainability.”

Through collaborative initiatives, the alliance will facilitate the exchange of best practices, innovative ideas, and cutting-edge research, to ensure that member schools remain at the forefront of sustainability education and play a key role in driving sustainable practices in the wider business community.
