Majlis-e-Frogh-e -Urdu Adab (MFUA), a literary group of Pakistani and Indian expatriates, is all set to organise its 27th Aalmi Frogh e Urdu Adab Award ceremony in Doha on November 2, a statement said.
The winners are eminent Pakistani novelist, playwright and short story writer Mirza Ather Baig and renowned Indian fiction writer Zakia Mashhadi.
The event at DPS-Modern Indian School Auditorium, Al Wakra, which will also feature the 27th Aalmi Mushaira, is in memory of the legendary Pakistani poet Amjad Islam Amjad who died on February 10 this year.
The poets from Pakistan who will be taking part in the poetry symposium are Prof Dr Peerzada Qasim, Dr Inam ul Haq Javed and Afzal Khan.
The guest poets from India are Shariq Kaifi, Salim Salem, Azm Shakri and Shabeena Adeeb. Qatar-based poets Aziz Nabeel, Zawwar Hussain Zaer, Raza Hussain, Sanwal Abbasi and Mushfiq Naqvi are also to participate.
MFUA was founded in 1991 by the late Museeb ur Rehman, who hailed from Lahore, Pakistan, recalled MFUA president Mohammed Atiq. It was in 1996 that the Majlis initiated Aalmi Frogh e Urdu Adab Award, to highlight and acknowledge two literary personalities, one from Pakistan and the other from India, for their life-time achievements in fiction, research and critical works.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 150,000 and a trophy for each winner.
