Pedestrian and cyclist paths maintained as temperature starts to drop

The concerned authorities have completed maintenance work on most of the pedestrian and bicycle paths distributed along many highways, main roads, and inner areas, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported.In addition, agricultural maintenance work has been carried out around these paths.Maintenance work is ongoing in other paths, involving the replacement of the old surface layer with a new one to maintain a high level of safety for all users, as their numbers increase with the improved weather over the coming few weeks due to the drop in temperatureA good number of people, who frequent these places for recreation activities such as walking, running, and cycling, have praised the significant attention given by the relevant authorities to the construction of these paths.They stressed that what sets apart the pedestrian and bicycle paths is the commitment of the concerned authorities to include trees and green areas, providing a healthy environment for sports enthusiasts.In addition, there is notable attention to providing parking lots and seating benches.The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar has successfully provided a network of bicycle and pedestrian paths spanning over 2,500sq km.The pedestrian and bicycle paths provide the highest levels of traffic safety, away from vehicle-dedicated roads, and have become an integral part of road projects in the country to serve sports enthusiasts.These paths aim to provide alternative options for transportation within and outside Doha, aligning with the state's overall plan to encourage the use of alternative means of transportation and promote physical activity.Some walking paths have separate lanes dedicated to cyclists, while others in residential and inner areas are shared by both cyclists and pedestrians.The concerned entities have paid close attention to constructing all these paths, distributed across the country according to the highest specifications and safety standards.They are often beautified with plants and trees to provide shade, lower temperatures, and reduce carbon emissions.
