The General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority (GRSIA) participated in the 7th Arab Pensions and Social Insurance Conference 2023, organized by the National Authority for Social Insurance of the Arab Republic of Egypt, under the theme of "Complementary systems and securing the future of retirement." The conference aimed to discuss retirement systems and infrastructure issues that impact their flexibility, suitability, and sustainability.
The Authority said in a press release that the conference addressed various topics related to retirement systems, including the influence of institutional reforms in both public and private sectors on the implementation of government policies in the field of social insurance. It also discussed how to return retirement fund assets and manage risks in markets affected by inflation.
Furthermore, the General Retirement and Social Insurance Authority participated in the technical seminar on best approaches to reforming social insurance systems in Arab countries, organized by the International Social Security Association (ISSA) and hosted by the National Authority for Social Insurance in Egypt, in collaboration between the Liaison Office for North Africa and the Liaison Office for Arab Countries.
During the seminar, the GRSIA presented a session on digitalization and integration of information systems and the expansion of banking services for an effective and comprehensive social insurance. It shared its experience in the digital transformation of services, and opportunities, requirements, and challenges of digital transformation of services. The seminar focused on two main aspects: the first being the harmonization and integration of social legislation and institutional consolidation to achieve cost-effective, fair, and sustainable social insurance, while the second aspect covered digitalization and the integration of information and banking services to achieve comprehensive and effective social insurance.
The seminar also reviewed the experiences of participating countries, the role of banking services in improving the quality and efficiency of services, and analysing the economic and social dimensions of unifying legislation and integrating structures, in addition to reviewing the challenges and opportunities in achieving unification or suitability of legislation, and the role of government agencies and social partners in implementing reforms and reviewing the challenges and advantages in adopting electronic procedures and exchanging data between different parties.
