HE the Secretary-General of the Shura Council Dr Ahmed bin Nasser al-Fadala stressed that the speech of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani at the opening of the third regular session of the first legislative term, corresponding to the 52nd annual session of the Council, included valuable directives that will serve as a foundation for various action plans and initiatives, contributing to Qatar's continued progress in various fields and sectors, as well as the realisation of Qatar National Vision 2030 objectives.
Speaking to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), HE Dr al-Fadala praised the confidence of the wise leadership in the Shura Council's role as a legislative authority that, as stipulated in the Constitution, is responsible for proposing laws, reviewing and approving draft laws and decrees by laws.
He emphasised the central role played by the Shura Council within the framework of its constitutional mandates, highlighting the constructive co-operation between the government and the Council to achieve the best interests of the country.
HE Dr al-Fadala underscored that the General Secretariat of the Shura Council is continually working to enhance its performance in alignment with the Council's legislative and supervisory requirements.
He noted that the General Secretariat plays a crucial role in the Council's activities by effectively managing the administrative, technical, and consultancy support provided to the Council to help it fulfil its role effectively.
He added that the General Secretariat, whether during the session or its adjournment, is in constant development by drawing on the expertise of qualified national professionals to ensure a continuous improvement in all its functions and operations. HE Dr al-Fadala looked forward to the current session playing a role full of accomplishments, building on the achievements of previous sessions, hailing the efforts of all the honourable members of the Council.
