The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF) has signed a co-operation document with the Qatar Manpower Solutions Company (Jusour) to provide employment opportunities for people with disabilities in the private sector.
HE the Minister of Labour Dr Ali bin Smaikh al-Marri, who is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Manpower Solutions Company (Jusour), HE the Minister of Social Development and Family Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser al-Misnad attended the signing ceremony along with several officials from both sides.
In a statement, MSDF said that this co-operation aligns with the ministry's primary role in implementing policies related to family care and social welfare. It emphasises the importance of achieving national strategic and developmental goals in the field of social protection to support both Qatari and non-Qatari individuals belonging to target groups, including people with disabilities.
MSDF added that the collaboration between the ministry and the company also provides an opportunity to achieve common goals within their respective areas of expertise.
The collaboration aims to create employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities in the private sector that match their abilities and needs. The ministry explained that it will conduct personal interviews with jobseekers to determine suitable positions based on their qualifications.
HE Assistant Undersecretary for Family Affairs Sheikha Sheikha bint Jassem al-Thani stated that the ministry, through the Jusour initiative, seeks to activate its role and responsibilities towards people with disabilities.
She added that through this collaboration, the ministry aspires to provide suitable employment opportunities for people with disabilities, integrate them into society, and empower them both occupationally and socially. She said that the ministry welcomes the initiatives of the private sector regarding jobseekers with disabilities.
Sheikha Sheikha al-Thani highlighted that Qatar was one of the first countries to ratify the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in 2008, adding that the State is considered a pioneer in protecting their rights, fully integrating them into society, and involving them in the development process.
She emphasised that these principles are integrated into Qatar's National Vision 2030 and the National Strategy for Public and Mental Health.
She emphasised Qatar's commitment to people with disabilities, encompassing comprehensive care across various aspects, including healthcare, education, employment, affordable housing, public and private facilities, as well as cultural and sports activities.
Regarding the employment mechanism through this co-operation with "Jusour," she explained that the process involves the Ministry of Social Development and Family providing Jusour with a list containing the names of jobseekers with disabilities, adding that each case's type of disability will be identified, and candidates will be nominated for positions based on their abilities and qualifications, as well as medical reports and recommendations from the Ministry of Public Health.
In this context, she noted that Jusour would co-ordinate with relevant authorities to conduct personal interviews with jobseekers with disabilities before hiring them, aiming to match individuals with suitable job positions.
CEO of Jusour Eng. Abdulhadi Barqan stated that this collaboration follows the launch of the "Sahem" platform by Jusour, which supports the employment of people with disabilities in the private sector.
He added that Jusour would provide job opportunities for people with disabilities, both Qatari and non-Qatari residents. A special link has been allocated to them on the company's website, making it accessible and navigable for all groups. The launch of the "Sahem" platform took place in June with a focus on serving university students.
Regarding Jusour, Eng. Barqan explained that it is a wholly state-owned private Qatari shareholding company with a board of directors representing various entities, such as the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Qatar Chamber, Al Jazeera Media Network, Qatar Airways, and Qatar University.
He further mentioned that Jusour, in collaboration with its partners, is executing several important national programmes aimed at providing a platform for human capital investment and attracting distinguished individuals to Qatar, such as the "Sahem" programme and other initiatives.
