Expo 2023 Doha Commissioner-General, HE Ambassador Bader bin Omar al-Dafa, asserted that the expo represents a global and pivotal platform where countries converge to discuss their innovations and cooperate among them to address the pressing global challenges.
During a tour to the Kuwaiti pavilion at the expo with Secretary-General of the Bureau International des Expositions Dimitri Kerkentzes, ambassador of Kuwait to Qatar, Khaled Badr al-Mutairi, alongside a host of dignitaries, HE al-Dafa added that the event epitomizes the commitment of all participating countries to the sustainable development, innovation, as well as creating an insightful joint understanding of the issue of climate change.
The Kuwaiti pavilion, in which the Kuwaiti environmental and cultural initiatives are embodied, is a good testament to its commitment to these crucial values, and the strong presence of GCC states at the expo, which underscores the aspirations of the GCC region and aligns with the comprehensive goals of Expo 2023 Doha, HE al-Dafa pointed out.
Commissioner-General of Kuwait's pavilion, Eng Samira al-Kandari, highlighted that Kuwait is committed to sustainable development and conserving the environment, as well as the efforts it is exerting in combating desertification, managing water resources, and advancing sustainable development.
She pointed out that the design of the pavilion reviews Kuwait's initiatives for the environment which comprises two separate buildings representing Kuwaiti historical and contemporary symbols, indicating that the pavilion offers interactive activities for children, along with a pace dedicated to meetings and conferences, as well as a quiet central corridor which recalls the serene atmosphere of the Ahmadi Oasis (KOC).
The pavilion offers a range of experiences, including interactive shows of the Kuwaiti natural reserves and the Educational Science Museum that sheds light on environmental harmony, along with the agricultural area designated to showcase the most prominent crops for which Kuwait is famous, in addition to the presentation area that includes screens to display important information and a hanging garden inspired by water storage towers, she added.
Pavilion 6 comprises external zones, along with two buildings that occupy 20% of the space, compared to 80% as a landscape. It also includes a rest area, interactive sections for adults and children, a greenhouse for growing roses, and another for growing the Arfaj plant, which is distributed to visitors for plantation and care for over six months, the duration of the international expo.
The Kuwaiti pavilion also includes a cylindrical museum and screens displaying the wildlife in Kuwait to increase environmental awareness, as well as a model of the famous Oasis Ahmadi desert Kuwait had adopted until it flourished after it was an arid area.
