Riding Fiori LS, Salmeen Sultan al-Suwaidi bagged Big Tour class at the third round of Longines Hathab – Qatar Equestrian Tour at the Qatar Equestrian Federation (QEF) Indoor Arena yesterday.
Al-Suwaidi’s first Big Tour win of the season came following a startling show as he teamed up with his 14-year-old mare for a perfect 29.55 secs in the jump off, winning QR25,000 in the QR100,000 contest.
Rashid Towaim al-Marri, astride Navaronne, clocked an error-free 31.63 secs in the jump off to take second spot while Cyrine Cherif had to content with third place. The French rider, who was on I’am Moerhoeve’s Princess Z, had to pay for four faults in the jump off which she completed in 29.32 secs.
In the Open Class event yesterday, Saad Ahmed al-Saad led Al Shaqab-owned Irschi to a flawless 34.76 secs and then 23.34 secs to secure the victory. Finishing second in the event were Khalid Mohamed al-Emadi and his 11-year-old mare Chikita O, who remained perfect while completing the two phases in 35.09 secs and 25.45 secs. Lee Carey, astride Gibria-B, finished the second phase 25.82 secs to take third position after rounding up the first phase in 33.47 secs.
Earlier, Abdulla bin Tamim al-Thani reigned supreme in the Amateur Class, with a perfect routine of 21.52 secs in the second phase with Casandra 352, owned by Al Shaqab. Mohamed Eisa al-Bukhari, who was astride Bco Come On Boy Z, came second with a time of 22.22 secs while Fahad bin Jassim al-Thani, who rode Kroaat Van Orchid’s, was third after clocking 22.45 secs in the second phase.
