The fifth Ras Laffan Falcons Championship (2023), organised by Al Gannas Qatari Society at Katara – Cultural Village under the sponsorship and support of the Ras Laffan Community Outreach programme and the supporting companies, will start on Friday. The competition will until November 23, a statement from Al Gannas said.
The Ras Laffan Falcons Championship is one of the important tournaments by Al Gannas Qatari Society and the second tournament of the season after the Qatar Isfiri Falconry Championship. Al-Talaa competition qualifiers for groups 1 to 7 will kick off at Sabkat Marmi in Sealine, from 5.30am, while the Promising Falconer Competition and the Young Falconer Competition will be held from 1 pm at Al-Gannas Association Centre Square in Ras Laffan.
The Promising Falconer Competition, held in two rounds, will be a test for children about the falcon and some tools related to falconry. A number of students from Simaisma Primary School visited the headquarters of Al-Gannas Association, where they learned about the traditional method of hunting with falcons and about the types of falcons.
Saeed Rashid al-Nuaimi from Al Gannas Qatari Society said that school students are usually eager to learn about the authentic heritage represented by falconry.
