Al-Kaabi emphasised the significance of inaugurating this facility, stating that the establishment of this facility aligns with the vision of the Honors Program under the umbrella of the Deanship of General Studies. This program stands as a cornerstone in QU, fostering educational excellence in line with the university's strategy for educational enhancement.
He further emphasised the university's commitment, saying that the Deanship of General Studies took this initiative to improve and launch the development plan that aligns with the university vision as well as Qatar Vision 2023. The new facility is expected to catalyze a qualitative transformation in students' experiences, providing a positive academic environment that nurtures skills of mastery, innovation and lifelong learning. It is poised to enhance their awareness of local and international issues, foster social responsibility, and cultivate critical and entrepreneurial thinking, al-Kaabi explained.
Al-Marzouki highlighted the program's evolution, stating that since its inception in 2009 with just four students, the Honors Program stands today as a thriving educational community within the university, accommodating approximately 100 students each semester across various disciplines. Presently, the program hosts around 470 students. Additionally, it holds membership in the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC).
He emphasised the program's aim to provide talented students with a rich academic experience, with a focus on developing skills in research and experimentation, as well as encouraging students to participate in innovative scientific and training courses, which contributes to them making real social changes after their graduation.
This new facility reflects the Honours Program's commitment to providing an educational environment that enhances students' excellence and encourages them to achieve their accomplishments. Al-Marzouki expressed his hopes of continuing co-operation with the Honours Program Council and the university's colleges to enhance the program's goals and fulfill the aspirations of QU.
