Msheireb Properties (MP) and Microsoft announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that marks the beginning of a transformative collaboration established to create a cutting-edge 'Smart Experience' for residents, visitors, and retail and commercial customers at Msheireb Downtown Doha (MDD).
The 'Smart Experience' Project will revolutionise how people interact with urban environments, designing and incorporating innovative solutions to enhance the daily lives of those within MDD. As part of the MoU, Msheireb Properties and Microsoft will explore the use of Microsoft Azure services to enhance the Smart City Experience products, services, and solutions offered to the MDD community. There are also plans to introduce Microsoft AI capabilities within MDD to foster innovation for residents, visitors, customers, and employees, making the district a hub of creativity and technological advancement.
In a press statement, MP CEO Ali al-Kuwari said: “The potential of what we are embarking on with Microsoft is tremendous in elevating MDD’s function as a Smart City. We believe that this partnership will not only advance the living experience within MDD but also create a dynamic and collaborative urban environment.”
Microsoft Qatar general manager Lana Khalaf said: “By harnessing the capabilities of Microsoft Cloud and AI technologies, we are empowering Msheireb -- The Heart of Doha -- with an integration platform powered by artificial intelligence and insights.”
MDD is a Smart City that blends Qatari heritage and aesthetics with modern technology. It focuses on sustainability and harmony with the environment. The aim of the project is to bring people back to their roots and rediscover a sense of community and togetherness. It represents the vision to create built environments that reflect the culture and aspirations of the people of Qatar.
