Qatar's Permanent Representative to the UN HE Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif al-Thani chaired, alongside the permanent representatives of the United Kingdom and Canada, a joint meeting of the Group of Friends of Afghanistan in New York.
In his briefing to the meeting, the UN Special Co-ordinator for the Independent Assessment of Afghanistan Feridun Sinirlioglu commended Qatar's effective role and mediation efforts to ensure security and peace in Afghanistan.
