The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) Monday held the graduation of the 2nd batch of its training programmes.
Ashghal president Dr engineer Saad bin Ahmad al-Muhannadi and other senior officials witnessed the graduation of 115 employees and engineers from the seven certified training programmes prepared by Ashghal’s human resources department. The number of participants in the past few years has reached 15,808.
Al-Muhannadi said achieving and developing distinct human resources that can progress with high efficiency is important. “This is to keep pace and develop in the engineering field and work on establishing the State’s infrastructure plans. Therefore, we place great importance on training and developing our employees by offering them various training programmes designed to develop functional career competencies and Qatari cadres, as this will positively impact their performance in their jobs,” he said.
Rashid Saeed al-Hajri, manager of the human resources department, said Ashghal offers a continuous and lifelong training and development process. “We also ensure that we offer training solutions designed to be in line with the requirements of the professional development of engineers and non-engineers,” he said.
Rouda Mosaed al-Nasser, acting head of the training and organisational development section, said Ashghal believes in the importance of training and developing the employees.
The training programmes include leadership Development Programme for Supervisory Positions, Project Management Programme, Job Succession Programme, Graduate Development Programme, Administrative Development Programme and Individual Development Plans in addition to the Professional Certifications Programme for Qatari Employees.
Ashghal has undertaken various initiatives in the field of training and development to achieve social responsibility by providing practical training to university students. A total of 54 Qatari students and 11 non-Qatari students were trained in engineering and administrative fields including local and international universities for 120 hours.
The Future Engineer 2 initiative was launched in collaboration with the Scientific Club in August. It has contributed to providing various experiences and knowledge to students by introducing them to the various engineering fields in Ashghal through direct practical application in various stages of the programme in several departments and sections.
Al-Muhannadi, during the ceremony, honoured some of the partner entities that support Ashghal's engineers through training programmes. Employees who won the first three places in the Leadership Programme were also felicitated.
