Work is currently underway to open Al Wakrah Park and to reopen Dahl Al Hamam Park after completing maintenance and rehabilitation of all its facilities, revealed, Sheikh Saheem bin Abdullah bin Qassim al-Thani, events and communication officer, the Public Parks Department at the Ministry of Municipality .He told local Arabic daily Arrayah that these projects are part of implementing Qatar National Vision 2030 and aim to provide green spaces in various areas to meet inhabitants' needs. He said three new parks have recently been inaugurated: Al Thameed Park, Al Sudan Park, and Ras Nasaa Park. He stressed that the Ministry of Municipality relies on studies of public needs to provide facilities and services that meet their expectations, including creating walking and cycling paths and hosting events and festivals within the public parks. Public engagement is facilitated through social media to receive suggestions and respond to inquiries as this continuous interaction helps enhance services and ensures visitor satisfaction.Accordingly, he invited all residents to visit public parks to enjoy the available activities and facilities and urged everyone to maintain the cleanliness of these parks to ensure their sustainability.Sheikh Saheem also highlighted that the recently opened Rawdat Al Hamama Park is a significant addition to Qatar's public parks. It is one of the largest parks in the country, spanning 175,000 sqm, and features the world’s longest air-conditioned outdoor walking track and the largest floral clock in the Middle East. These unique features make it an ideal destination for residents and visitors alike.In the meantime, he noted that the public parks in Qatar have witnessed remarkable development. Rawdat Al Hamama Park alone has green spaces covering 80% of its total area—around 138,000 sqm—and includes 1,042 trees, making it an ideal green oasis. The park's standout features include the world’s longest air-conditioned outdoor walking track of 1,197 metres, and a fully automated irrigation system using treated water. It also has the largest floral clock in the Middle East, reflecting the park’s sustainability-focused design. The park has earned a three-star rating under the global sustainability evaluation system, underscoring its adherence to international environmental standards.Sheikh Saheem pointed out that the park offers a variety of activities and services for all age groups. These include dedicated walking, running, and cycling paths, fitness facilities, and children’s play areas. Besides, the park is equipped with a mosque, well-maintained restrooms, and accessible facilities for individuals with special needs. There are also retail kiosks offering various services to visitors.He stressed that the Ministry of Municipality is strongly committed to sustainability. So, public parks utilise smart irrigation systems that rely entirely on treated water. Native plants are cultivated to conserve biodiversity and reduce resource consumption. Furthermore, the parks promote recycling with dedicated waste sorting bins and use environmentally friendly construction materials. This focus on sustainability aims to improve air quality and protect Qatar’s environment.
