Ambassador of the United States of America to the State of Qatar Timmy Davis underlined that Doha Forum 2023 represents a real opportunity for a conversation that is not happening anyplace else, in light of what is happening in the region right now; pointing to the robust dialogue seen in the first day of the Forum on issues important to everyone.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), the US Ambassador said that Doha Forum has always been a place for thought leaders and government officials, environmentalists, directors of charities, and the United Nations experts; noting that there are necessary conversations right now, the most important of which are the conversations related to the current events in the region that are happening outside of the plenaries.
He believed that Doha Forum will help shape the future through the quiet conversations among new and old diplomats, praising the State of the Qatar for allowing the world the opportunity to promote conversation through this forum.
The US Ambassador said that Qatar has been a leader worldwide in mediation and negotiation for years, and they have brought to this moment their ability to speak to all parties, noting in this regard Qatar's efforts to help release hostages in Gaza Strip, and the work with all parties to be able to renew the flow of humanitarian assistance into Gaza, which is life saving assistance that only the Qataris could lead on negotiations for.
On the bilateral relations, the Ambassador said that the United States understands the importance of Qatar and this relationship which both countries have had for years in the field of security, the work on humanitarian assistance, the shared sense of responsibility in Russia and Ukraine, the humanitarian assistance in Gaza prior to the conflict.
"The United States and Qatar have laid a foundation for cooperation on all of these issues: Security, education, energy, that is allowed for the conversation that's happening now that we hope will result in peace. And so the bilateral cooperation relationship between the United States and Qatar will ultimately be one of the most important factors as the region and the world move toward peace last," the Ambassador added.
He pointed to the Qatar-US Strategic Dialogue which held five sessions to help lay out a framework for joint work, indicating that a new session will be held next year.
He added that there are joint mechanisms between the two countries like the strategic dialogue, and Al Udeid air base, one of the most important US air and military bases in the world and the largest in the region.

He noted that Qatar and the United States share a vision for the future to continue to build out ways for enhancing the lives of individuals, achieving peace in the region, and helping nations work better together.
