The Shura Council has welcomed the outcome of the 44th session of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) states held in Qatar last Tuesday, praising the GCC leaders' keenness to achieve the economic unity among the member states. This came in the Council's ordinary weekly session which was chaired by its Speaker HE Hassan bin Abdullah al-Ghanim.
The Council underscored its keenness to stand with the Palestinian brothers, back their resilience and condemn the wanton aggression unleashed by the occupation's forces against them, in addition to calling on the international community to halt the aggression and protect the defenceless civilians.
The council lauded the speech of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani at the GCC summit, in which he underscored his commitment to supporting the brotherly Palestinian people, essentially ending their catastrophic tragedy, and protecting them from the aggression they are being exposed to, which the international community has been unable to halt.
The Council lauded His Highness's keenness to advance and bolster the joint Gulf action to achieve the interests of GCC states and peoples, promote the GCC regional and international privilege, as well as achieve growth and prosperity. It voiced its concern over the continuation of violence in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories, saying that the humanitarian plight of the Palestinian brothers will have catastrophic consequences not only on them, but also on the region and the entire world.
The Council condemned the Israeli occupation forces' bombing of Al-Yemen Al-Saeed Hospital in the Jabalia refugee camp last Friday. It also condemned Israel's attempt to impose its control over Jerusalem and Al Aqsa Mosque, including the attempt to alter the historical and legal status quo through allowing extremists to protest in Jerusalem to call for maintaining that control, considering this step a provocation of Muslims' feelings.
Afterward, HE the Shura Council Secretary-General, Dr Ahmed bin Nasser al-Fadala, read out the session's agenda and endorsed the minutes of the previous session. During the session, the Council endorsed a draft law on enforcing the judicial rulings on writing cheques without balance, and recovering the cheque amount without lodging a lawsuit through a request submitted directly to the enforcement judge, which will contribute to reducing such a phenomenon, as well as achieving flexibility in procedures.
In addition, the draft law addressed some problems associated with real estate leases, considering the rental contract as an executive document with respect to vacating the property when the validity of such documents expires without the need to lodge a lawsuit which will certainly contribute to solving some problems associated with real estate leases.
The session's activities continued during which the council endorsed the state's draft general budget for fiscal 2024, as well as a draft law endorsing the general budget as received from the esteemed government after reviewing the content of the report of the Economic and the Financial Affairs Committee draft general budget and discussing its details.
In conclusion, the Shura Council extended assurances of its highest consideration to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani and the gracious Qatari people on the occasion of the advent of the commemoration of country's National Day, affirming that the occasion comes to remember the values and principles laid down by the founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani.
The council reiterated the pledge and loyalty to His Highness the Amir, affirming its commitment to continuing its role as a legislative power of the country to achieve the homeland's interests, safeguard its gains and steadfastly strive to achieve the citizens' aspirations and hopes.
