HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani met separately with foreign ministers of European nations on the sidelines of the Ministerial Committee meeting commissioned by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit in Oslo Friday.
HE Sheikh Mohamed met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway Espen Barth Eide. The meeting dealt with discussing the latest developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, and ways to reduce escalation and achieving a ceasefire. During the meeting, HE Sheikh Mohamed stressed that Qatar is committed, along with its mediation partners, to continuing its efforts for a permanent ceasefire, stressing the need to open humanitarian corridors in a sustainable manner to ensure the continued entry of aid to the Palestinian brothers in the Gaza Strip, and to provide the necessary protection for relief convoys until they reach the north of the Strip.
HE Sheikh Mohamed also met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg Xavier Bettel, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Tobias Billstrom, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands Hanke Bruins and Hadja Lahbib, Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs, Foreign Trade and Federal Cultural Institutions of the Kingdom of Belgium.
HE Sheikh Mohamed expressed Qatar's firm position in condemning all forms of targeting civilians, and that killing innocent civilians, especially women and children, and practicing the policy of collective punishment is unacceptable under any pretext.
