With Qatar's Participation, Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs Affirms Unrelented Social, Humanitarian Support for Gaza

Cairo, December 20 (QNA) - The 43rd session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs announced Wednesday in Cairo it would continue support for the people of the Gaza Strip and work to redress the difficult social and humanitarian impacts of the continued brutal Israeli occupation.HE Minister of Social Development and Family Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Misnad chaired the State of Qatar's delegation to the meeting and handed over the presidency of the Council in its current session to Egypt, after the State of Qatar assumed the presidency of the 42nd session.Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Social Affairs Sector of the Arab League, Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh said in a statement on Wednesday that the Arab Ministers of Social Affairs approved, during the work of the current session of the Council, a number of important decisions in addition to supporting the people of the Gaza Strip, especially with regard to preparing for the upcoming 33rd Arab Summit in Bahrain, as well as the 5th session of the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit in Mauritania.The meeting also approved a number of strategies, plans and programs related to eliminating multidimensional poverty, promoting the rights of persons with disabilities, and topics related to the elderly, family and childhood and providing support to a number of social projects in member states.Abu Ghazaleh extended thanks to HE Al Misnad for her efforts during chairing the work of the 42nd session of the Council, noting that this session witnessed many achievements at the level of the Councils work, starting with the launch of the Doha Declaration on People with disabilities and multidimensional poverty, and the continued implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and beyond in January.She hailed the adoption of the Arab classification for persons with disabilities, the initiative of the Minister of Social Development and Family to implement it at the national level, and other important qualitative achievements, pointing out that the support of the Arab Ministers of Social Affairs for these initiatives was an important shift.
