Also, Sila featured several achievements in the public transport sector in 2023. They include launch of the Education City Tram Green Line and setting up 84 fully electric bus routes. Also, electrification of public buses reached 70% while 90% of Karwa taxis have been replaced with eco-friendly hybrid vehicles. Sila said that there are 55 metrolink routes to serve the Doha Metro users.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transport (MoT) highlighted the achievements in the transportation sector in 2023 saying "it is rapidly advancing". The ministry is dedicated to continuous development for a sustainable and prosperous future, the MoT said.
The post highlighted Qatar chairing the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Technical Co-operation Committee, full management of the Doha Flight Information Region (FIR) and launching of Long-rang L-band and S-band radar systems in line with Doha FIR strategic goals.
“Qatar leads the region in zero-carbon emission public transport with 70% electric public bus operation in 2023,” the ministry said adding that the policy for imported buses/trucks to use EURO-5 diesel was introduced.

In 2023, Qatar was re-elected to International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Council for the second time while Hamad Port ranked the world's 8th most efficient gateway in the Arab region on the Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) for 2022 (CPPI2022). The shipping line network for Hamad Port was expanded with two new direct shipping lines in 2023. Nearly 30 global routes to more than 100 global maritime destinations were established. Also, Tourist Season 2023/24 for cruises has kicked off.
