The AIN Team for innovative content creation and the Meshkat Club for the Holy Qur’an at Qatar University (QU) held a press conference under the theme 'Wa rattilil Qur`aana tarteela' to announce the start of the “Rattil Project”.
This initiative is aimed at recording the entire Qur’an using the voices of its students.
This project marks a pioneering leap towards intertwining creativity and spirituality within the academic sphere.
AIN Team president Hassan Yan shared insights into the team's inception, highlighting their evolution from a modest podcast to a thriving platform that champions diverse creative expressions.
“The AIN Team is more than content creation – it’s a platform fostering talent, honing skills, and amplifying voices that often remain unheard,” he said. “The team stands as a beacon for aspiring creators, nurturing talent, honing skills, and amplifying voices that might otherwise go unheard.”
“Our vision for connecting content creation with the Qur’an led us to conceive an unprecedented idea: recording the entire Qur’an using the voices of QU students,” Yan said. “Collaborating with the Meshkat Club for the Holy Qur’an seemed destined as both entities share the vision and enthusiasm for this groundbreaking project.”
Meshkat Club president Abdullah al-Subai also explained the club’s mission to integrate Qur’anic studies with academic pursuits, fostering a comprehensive Qur’anic environment for QU students and members.
“Our vision is to enhance Qur’anic culture within the university community, highlighting and supporting the talents of QU students in service of the Qur’an,” he said. “The ‘Rattil Project’ aims to record the complete Qur’anic recitation by students, drawing inspiration from Surah Al-Muzzammil: 'Wa rattilil Qur`aana tarteela', ‘And recite the Quran distinctly’.”
“Its mission includes encouraging students to master Qur’anic recitation, fostering a competitive spirit in charitable work, and providing continuous charity for contributors,” al-Subai added.
The project adopts the narration of Hafs on the authority of Asim with qasr munfasil and envisions 30 students recording 30 sections each.
It involves a team comprising validators, supervisors, and sound engineers.
The timeline spans from the commencement of recruitment during the mid-academic year break to the recording phase in the spring and fall of 2024, concluding with an inaugural ceremony in the spring of next year.
The “Rattil Project” marks a defining chapter in the convergence of student creativity and spiritual enlightenment.
With the commitment of the Ain Team, Meshkat Club, and the participation of QU students, this initiative is poised to carve a new narrative in Qur’anic preservation and student empowerment.
