The International Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha Saturday hosted the Saudi Day in the presence of HE the Minister of Municipality and Chairman of the national committee for hosting the expo, Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki al-Subaie, alongside a number of heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Qatar and senior officials.
The Saudi Day featured several artistic and heritage shows followed by a visit to the pavilion of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participating in the expo.
The Saudi Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Mansour bin Hilal al-Mushaiti, reviewed the achievements made by the kingdom with respect to achieving sustainability and conserving natural resources, achieving water security, optimising life quality, achieving food security and increasing self-sufficiency rates in numerous agricultural crops and products, in addition to the initiatives adopted by the kingdom to depend on clean energy, reduce carbon emissions and increase green spaces and sustainable waste management.
The general supervisor of the kingdom's participation at the expo, Saleh bin Abdul Mohsen bin Dakhil, commended the hospitality and organisation of the events, noting the efforts made by the organising committee to promote cultural and civilisational exchange between peoples, in addition to making environment conducive to hold this vital global festival.
He affirmed that the kingdom's participation in this global event underscores an enduring vision that is based on comprehensive development and achieving balance between environment, agriculture, and water in keeping with the motto of the expo: "'Green Desert, Better Environment", in addition to exploring innovative solutions for combating desertification.
The Saudi pavilion at the expo drew the attention of visitors from all over the world, as it showcases the diversity that features the richness of the kingdom's nature and its multiple terrains, Dakhil pointed out, hoping the expo would achieve its objectives, including food security and environmental sustainability in the Arab world and the entire world.
Expo 2023 Doha represents a global platform to upgrade the mechanisms of supporting agricultural sector in desert areas. The event leverages cutting-edge technologies for sustainability of resources and revolves around major topics such as modern agriculture, environmental awareness, sustainability, technology and innovation.
