The Saudi Arabia national football team will be aiming to win the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 tournament set to be held in Qatar with the participation of 24 teams.
According to a report published on AFC official website, things are falling into place after the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) signed coach Roberto Mancini in a mission to win the title as the Italian is determined to employ his massive expertise to that end. Mancini, the 59-year-old coach, holds a wonderful CV. He guided Italy to win in the 2020 UEFA European Championship.
The Saudi team are determined to win the AFC title having been crowned champions three times (1984, 1988 and 1996).
Overall Saudi Arabia have played 48 matches in AFC Asian Cup, winning 21 games.
The Saudi squad feels ready to face Oman in their opening match of the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 on Jan 16.
This tie will be followed by matches against Kyrgyzstan (Jan 21) and Thailand (25).
