Sidra Medicine and Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) will co-host the 8th Qatar Paediatric Emergency Conference (QPEM) from January 19-21.
QPEM 2024 aims is to provide high-quality, evidence-based updates for healthcare practitioners involved in the urgent and emergent care of children, a statement said Monday.
More than 30 local and international speakers will be addressing QPEM 2024 on topics ranging from managing common yet potentially dangerous conditions; research in paediatric emergency medicine and incorporating quality and patient safety into practice.
This year’s conference will be virtual – making it accessible to a larger cohort of attendees locally, regionally and internationally.
Prof Khalid al-Ansari, chair of Emergency Medicine at Sidra Medicine who is leading the QPEM 2024 Scientific Planning & Organising Committee said: “The Qatar Paediatric Emergency Medicine conference series has grown from strength to strength. The knowledge-sharing and insights have been instrumental in helping us advance and implement new methodologies and develop key partnerships and relationships, that have had a positive impact on furthering Qatar’s paediatric emergency care services.”
“QPEM 2024 will focus on best evidence in the management of critically ill neonates and children covering a variety of medical, surgical, traumatic, behavioural and technology-assisted presentations. It will cover the interventions needed for a variety of toxicological ingestions – which tends to spike during camping season and also amongst toddlers at home who access household cleaning products. Attendees will also learn how to list the red flags and detail a systems based-approach when managing trauma,” added Prof al-Ansari.
