The General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security has launched an awareness campaign at the maritime vessel traffic registration center in Al Wakra to educate fishermen about adhering to maritime safety procedures and requirements, laws and regulations, as well as protecting maritime environment against any waste, materials or illegal maritime activities.
First Lieutenant Ibrahim Abdullah Al Maliki, officer of the media coordination office at the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security, stated that the campaign aimed at educating fishermen about maritime safety procedures and avoiding fishing in prohibited places or outside the territorial waters of the State of Qatar.
The three-day awareness campaign targets maritime vessel and vessel registration centers in Al Wakra, Al Khor and Al Ruwais. (QNA)
