US police found seven people shot dead in two residences in Joliet area near the city of Chicago. Investigators are searching for a man who knew the victims and is suspected of murder.
Police said that they do not have information about the possible motive for the shooting yet, but there is a belief that the victims are members of the same family.
The suspect is a 23-year-old person, considered by authorities as armed and dangerous, the Police Department confirmed.
Mass shootings have become alarmingly common across the US, in light of the ease of purchasing firearms in most states. One in three adults owns a firearm, and approximately 50% of adults live in a house with a firearm.
