Chairman of Advisory Board of Supreme Council of GCC: Board provides qualitative views that address region's challenges

HE Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Supreme Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, praised the tangible support provided by the General Secretariat of the Council to the Advisory Board, which had a significant impact in providing qualitative views on human issues, highlighting the challenges facing the region, and meeting the aspirations of its people.In statements to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the sidelines of the first meeting of the Advisory Board in its 27th session held Wednesday in Doha, His Excellency expressed his hope that this support will continue to enhance the process of joint action in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, achieve the aspirations and ambitions of the leaders towards shaping a bright future for their countries, and achieve comprehensive and sustainable development for their people, hoping that the meeting will achieve the prosperity and stability that the leaders aspire to.Dr. Al Sada explained that the Advisory Board was established by Their Majesties and Highnesses, the leaders of the GCC countries more than 25 years ago. It consists of 30 members, 5 for each country, representing the GCC's best minds in knowledge, experience, and competence. They have a long history in various fields, have diverse experiences that enrich any topic raised for discussion and they spare no effort in supporting the Council's progress. The Board is referred by the Supreme Council to important and vital issues that affect all citizens of member states for the benefit of development, community security, and the renaissance and development witnessed by these countries.His Excellency added that the Supreme Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, which held its last session in Doha last December, referred to the Board three topics: energy security in the Gulf region, the security of technical alternatives and new systems, and the strategy to protect the youth from the danger of drug abuse and addiction in the GCC countries and ways to protect the families in the Gulf region from the negative effects of the variables affecting the global economy.The Advisory Board has begun studying these topics in all their aspects. Members will be distributed to three committees, each of which will discuss a specific topic. It will then be discussed at the level of the Board with all its members and reports will be written and presented to the Council's leaders for consideration and approval of what they deem appropriate in preparation for its distribution to the concerned authorities to take them into consideration and implement them.
