The Criminal Investigation Department at the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations has arrested an individual of Asian descent for conducting unauthorised currency exchange operations, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) Wednesday said.
Through search and investigation operations, the suspect was caught receiving money in local currency in exchange of providing a certain Asian currency, MoI said in a post on X.
Upon interrogation, the suspect admitted to the allegations, and cash amounts and financial receipts were found in his possession. Subsequently, the accused and the seized items were referred to the competent authorities to proceed with the legal procedures in this matter, MoI added.
